Anna May Tropiano, 78, devoted matriarch

Anna May Tropiano, a former supervisor with Sears Roebuck & Co. who with her late husband, Joseph Tropiano, founded Tropiano Transportation Inc. in Lansdale, and a devoted family matriarch, died May 27. She was 78 and lived in Spring House, Montgomery County.

Anna May Tropiano, a former supervisor with Sears Roebuck & Co. who with her late husband, Joseph Tropiano, founded Tropiano Transportation Inc. in Lansdale, and a devoted family matriarch, died May 27. She was 78 and lived in Spring House, Montgomery County.

Anna and her husband started the transportation company in 1985 with just two vehicles and one employee. It grew to 75 vehicles and is still operated by the Tropiano family.

She was born in South Philadelphia to the late Ignatius Litwino-wicz and the former Josephine Symko. She graduated from South Philadelphia High School and went to work for Sears. She became a supervisor in the central timekeeping department, covering employees from Massachusetts to Florida. She retired after 40 years.

Services: Were Monday. Burial was in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
