Frank J. McNulty | Defense employee, 68

Frank J. McNulty, 68, of Clifton Heights, a Defense Department employee and Vietnam War veteran, died of heart disease May 29 at the Southeast Alabama Medical Center in Dothan, Ala.

Mr. McNulty worked for the Defense Department for more than 30 years, traveling to Washington and military bases all over the country, said his wife, Catherine Paynter McNulty. His work was classified, and he never discussed it with his family, she said. After retiring five years ago, he became a department consultant.

Mr. McNulty graduated from Bishop Neumann Catholic High School in Philadelphia, now SS. Neumann-Goretti Catholic High School. He then served in the Marine Corps and completed three tours of duty in Vietnam. After his discharge he worked for the Boeing Co. in Ridley Township.

He loved South Philadelphia, where he and his wife grew up, she said, and returned every year for the Mummers Parade. He was active with the Marine Corps Leagues in Newtown Square and in Dothan, where he spent recent winters, and enjoyed travel and Eagles football.

A Funeral Mass will be said at 10:30 a.m. today at Holy Cross Roman Catholic Church, Bishop and Springfield Roads, Springfield, Delaware County, where friends may call after 9:30.
