Brian L. Sears | Auto salesman, 66
Brian L. Sears, 66, of Cherry Hill, general manager of Medford Ford, died of lung cancer Saturday at Virtua West Jersey Hospital Voorhees.
A native of Dayton, Ohio, Mr. Sears earned a bachelor's degree and a master of business administration from Bowling Green State University. He began his career in the auto industry with Lincoln-Mercury in Boston and was transferred to Philadelphia in 1969. He worked for several dealerships before joining Medford Ford in the early 1980s.
He was a good, honest salesman and did whatever he could to help people, said his wife, Alyce Tosko Sears. In 2004, Mr. Sears gave cars to volunteer firefighters whose vehicles had been flooded in a lot where they had parked before responding to the dam break in Medford Lakes. Mr. Sears also donated a new Ford to a fund-raising benefit for flood victims.
He was an active member of the Medford Business Association and a sponsor of the association's annual golf tournament.
Mr. Sears enjoyed playing golf at the Links Golf Club in Marlton and going out Tuesday nights with old friends.
He and his wife were college sweethearts and had been married since 1966. He is also survived by sons Brad and Brett; a daughter, Elizabeth Rudderow; a sister; and five grandchildren.
Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. today and after 10 a.m. tomorrow at the Bradley & Stow Funeral Home, 127 Medford-Mount Holly Rd., Medford, where a funeral will be held at 11 a.m. tomorrow.
