Bike ride set as memorial
A memorial bike parade will be held Saturday for Gihon Jordan, 58, of West Philadelphia, the city's Streets Department traffic engineer, who died of colon cancer Aug. 7.
A memorial bike parade will be held Saturday for Gihon Jordan, 58, of West Philadelphia, the city's Streets Department traffic engineer, who died of colon cancer Aug. 7.
Mr. Jordan, who never owned a car, worked to get more people to walk, bike and take mass transit. He earned a national reputation as a traffic calmer.
Friends may ride in the parade, starting at 12:30 p.m. at Clark Park on Chester Avenue between 43d and 45th Streets in University City. A meeting for worship will be held for Mr. Jordan at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Germantown Friends Meeting, 47 W. Coulter St. A reception will follow.
