Jeremy T. Kircher Sr., 31, of Pennsburg, an educator and coach, died of cancer Wednesday at his home.
A native of Abington, Mr. Kircher played basketball for Hatboro-Horsham High School and on the basketball and tennis teams at Gwynedd-Mercy College.
After graduating from Gwynedd-Mercy, he taught special education students at William Tennent High School in Warminster. He later taught at Souderton High School and for two seasons coached the varsity boys' basketball team at Hatboro-Horsham.
In 2006, he left teaching and coaching to establish the International Institute for Behavioral Development with his wife, Kimberly Stunkard Kircher. The institute is a consulting firm for families of special-needs children. He was especially concerned, his wife said, that special-needs children be able to participate in sports and recreational programs. He enjoyed working from home and being with his two young sons, his wife said.
Mr. Kircher and his wife married on a Cape May beach in 2005. He loved beaches, especially in the Caribbean, his wife said.
Mr. Kircher is also survived by sons Jeremy Jr. and Aidan "Jax"; his parents, Joseph and Carolyn Kircher; and a brother.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. today at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, 505 N. York Rd., Hatboro. Friends may call from 9 a.m. Burial will be in Whitemarsh Memorial Park, Prospectville.
Memorial donations may be made to the Jeremy Jr. and Aidan Kircher Fund, Commerce Bank, 49 N. West End Blvd., Quakertown, Pa. 18951.
