Musical service today for Penn's Montgomery

A memorial musical service for Bruce Montgomery, director of the Gilbert & Sullivan Players of Philadelphia and of musical studies at the University of Pennsylvania, will be held at 3 p.m. today at Irvine Auditorium, 3401 Spruce St.

A memorial musical service for Bruce Montgomery, director of the Gilbert & Sullivan Players of Philadelphia and of musical studies at the University of Pennsylvania, will be held at 3 p.m. today at Irvine Auditorium, 3401 Spruce St.

Mr. Montgomery died of heart failure June 21 at his summer home on Spruce Head Island, Maine, one day after his 81st birthday.

Friends are invited to a reception at the auditorium at 1 p.m. Most of the songs in the service were written or arranged by Mr. Montgomery. Performers will include the Penn Glee Club, the Orpheus Club, the Penn Singers, the Gilbert & Sullivan Players of Philadelphia, and many musical professionals who were students of Mr. Montgomery's during his 50-year career.
