Joseph J. Campbell | Former executive, 61

Joseph J. Campbell, 61, of Berwyn, a retired financial executive, died of leukemia Thursday at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.
Born in Harrisburg, he was a 1965 graduate of Parkland High School in Orefield, Pa., and a 1970 graduate of DeSales University near Allentown.
Mr. Campbell's daughter, Allison, said that for several years until 1987, he was a vice president of systems planning and development for Financial America Corp. in Allentown.
She said that he was a senior vice president at Dollar Dry Dock Bank in Manhattan from 1987 to 1990 and a senior vice president at Citicorp in Manhattan from 1990 to 1991, and that he was in Citicorp's St. Louis office from 1991 to '93.
From 1993 to 1994, she said, he was an executive vice president at Home Insurance Co. in Manhattan, and from 1995 to 2004, he was chief information officer at Zurich Risk Management there.
Since 1997, he was a partner with his son, John, in Breakthrough Fitness Centers in Hilton Head Island, S.C., and since 2005 he had co-owned Clear Data Strategies in Ridgefield, Conn.
In addition to his daughter and son, Mr. Campbell is survived by his wife, Susan.
Visitation is from 6 to 9 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. tomorrow at the Donohue Funeral Home, 366 W. Lancaster Ave., Wayne, followed by an 11 a.m. Funeral Mass at St. Thomas of Villanova Church on the Villanova University campus. Burial is private.
