Bonnie Miriam Master, devoted to her family

Bonnie Miriam Master was most proud of her son, whom she helped put through Temple University, where he studied production with an eye toward breaking into the movies.

Two weeks ago, she flew to Burbank, Calif., to visit him. Her son, Daniel Craig Master, was working with a production company and he hoped it would lead to a movie career.

But Bonnie never made it back to Philadelphia. She died in California on Oct. 30, after a short battle with cancer, with her son by her side. She was 55 and lived in the Northeast.

"Bonnie was very outgoing, very loving," said her niece, Robyn Brogan. "She made a lasting impression on everybody. She was the kind of person who once you met her you never forgot her."

She was born in Philadelphia to the late Milton Master and Claire Master. She graduated from Northeast High School.

Bonnie was employed for about 20 years as a manager for BJ's Wholesale Club, Red Lion Road and Bustleton Avenue.

She was dedicated to her church, Calvary Chapel of Philadelphia, where she voluteered for the hospitality ministry. She helped with the church food pantry, which provides food for the needy.

Bonnie enjoyed going to Atlantic City, which her family had visited for years, and she was a big fan of the movies.

She enjoyed taking her mother to Jack's Deli, on Bustleton Avenue in the Far Northeast.

"She was a big-hearted woman, and very outspoken," said her niece. "She was devoted to her family."

Besides her son and mother, she is survived by a sister, Susan Diane Ruby.

Services: Memorial service 11 a.m. Tuesday at Calvary Chapel of Philadelphia. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the church, at 13500 Philmont Ave. Philadelphia, Pa. 19116. *
