Rita M. Pacifico | Owned meat market, 78

Rita Magliocco Pacifico, 78 of Havertown, former co-owner of Penn Valley Meat Market, died of a heart infection Thursday at Mercy Health Hospice in Darby.
Mrs. Pacifico graduated from Clayton High School in Gloucester County. In 1950 she married Anthony Pacifico. They met when she was shopping in a snowstorm at his father's meat market in Newfield.
The couple opened their own meat market in Narberth in 1963; she was the cashier.
After she and her husband sold their business in 1988, they moved to Brigantine, N.J., and worked at the Showboat Casino in Atlantic City. She was a hostess and he was a cook.
They moved to Havertown to be closer to family in 2000. For the last six years, Mrs. Pacifico had been a recess aide at Penn Wynne School.
She enjoyed gardening, cooking Italian specialties, and doting on her grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Pacifico is survived by daughters Josephine Gilbert, Rita Bloch and Maria Ruth; a brother; and five grandchildren.
A Funeral Mass will be said at 10 a.m. Monday at Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church, 204 Haverford Rd., Wynnewood. Friends may call from 8 to 9:30 a.m. Monday at Stretch Funeral Home, 236 E. Eagle Rd., Havertown. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Yeadon.
