Peter A. Lescas | Skating rink operator, 86

Peter A. Lescas, 86, of Yardley, who operated popular skating rinks in the Northeast and Bucks County, died Monday at Fox Chase Cancer Center of lymphoma and leukemia.

Mr. Lescas was born in Albania and grew up in Philadelphia, where he graduated from Olney High School.

In 1950, he, his father and his brothers decided to open the Concord Roller Rink, in Mayfair. They had such success that they also opened the Cornwells Skating Center, in Bensalem Township.

The family ran the Mayfair rink until 1985, and the Bensalem one until 1993, when Mr. Lescas retired.

Mr. Lescas was an avid golfer and was a longtime member of the Yardley Country Club. He vacationed frequently in Florida and was a fan of horse-racing.

Mr. Lescas is survived by his wife, the former Janice Martin; stepchildren Marianne Forster and Michael and Ronald Murray; seven stepgrandchildren; and three nephews and nieces.

A viewing will be at 10 a.m. today at St. John Chrysostom Albanian Orthodox Church, 237 N. 17th St., Philadelphia, followed by the funeral at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Forest Hills Cemetery, Philadelphia.
