Patricia L. Cannoe, 69, of Port Richmond, who ran a hair salon for 30 years and frequently made hairdressing house calls to the ill and elderly, died Dec. 10 at the Sacred Heart Home in Hunting Park from complications of vulvar cancer.

Mrs. Cannoe owned and operated the Chez Vous Hair Salon, at Memphis Street and Allegheny Avenue, until she retired in 1999, said her son David. Even in retirement, however, she continued to give free services to people who couldn't get out of their houses.

After they would have their hair done, said David Cannoe, "they felt so much better about themselves."

Mrs. Cannoe, who was born and raised in Philadelphia and spent most of her adulthood in Port Richmond, attended beautician school after graduating from Bishop Neumann High School.

A Roman Catholic, she was intensely religious and a longtime member of Our Lady Help of Christians Church and often prayed the rosary outside abortion clinics.

In addition to David, she is survived by another son, Christopher, and three grandchildren.

A Memorial Mass was held yesterday at Our Lady Help of Christians, and burial was private.

Memorial contributions can be sent to the Sacred Heart Home, 1315 W. Hunting Park Ave., Philadelphia 19140.
