Stanley W. Danowski, 84, a retired computer engineer, died of complications from Alzheimer's disease Monday at Gwynedd Square Nursing Center in Upper Gwynedd. He had lived in North Wales from 1965 until last year.

Born in Port Richmond, Mr. Danowski dropped out of Northeast High School, served with the Marines on Guam and New Georgia during World War II, and returned to graduate in 1947.

Mary Ann Filanowicz, his daughter, said that in 1950 Mr. Danowski graduated from Temple University Technical Institute.

That year, she said, he became an electronic technician at Eckert-Mauchly Computer Corp. in Philadelphia.

According to the Computer History Museum in California, Eckert's named partners were major figures in the development of the ENIAC computer.

While continuing his career, Mr. Danowski earned his bachelor's degree in electronic physics in 1971 through night classes at what is now La Salle University.

Mr. Danowski stayed with the Eckert firm after it was sold to Remington Rand and with its successors until he retired in 1981 as a senior engineer at what is now Unisys Corp. in Blue Bell.

Besides his daughter, Mr. Danowski is survived by sons Thomas and John and four grandchildren. His wife, Marie, died last July.

Visitation is at 9 a.m. tomorrow at St. Stanislaus Roman Catholic Church, 51 Lansdale Ave., Lansdale, followed by a 10 a.m. Funeral Mass. Burial will be in St. John Neumann Cemetery in Chalfont.
