Curtis L. Weaver, 70, of Philadelphia, a truck driver for The Inquirer from 1968 until he retired in 2000, died May 8 at Mercy Philadelphia Hospital of a heart attack.

Born in Valentines, Va., Mr. Weaver graduated from James Solomon Russell High School in Lawrenceville, Va.
Mr. Weaver was a mechanic at Bob's Esso Station at 36th and Spring Garden Streets from 1958 until 1962, when he became a mechanic at Gamble's Gulf Station at 22d and Spring Garden. During his years with The Inquirer, his daughter Jacqueline said, he continued part-time work at Gamble's.
Mr. Weaver was a deacon and a member of the male chorus at Mount Olive Baptist Church in West Philadelphia.
Besides his daughter, he is survived by his wife, Catherine; son Curtis A.; daughters Catherine West, Gladys, and LaToya; two sisters; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
A viewing will be at 8 a.m. tomorrow at Mount Olive Baptist Church, 638 N. 37th St., followed at 10 by a funeral. Burial will be in Fernwood Cemetery, Lansdowne.
