Harvey W. Grossman, 71, died July 1 at Select Specialty Hospital in Lake Worth, Fla., of complications from a staph infection.

Mr. Grossman, who had homes in Society Hill and Boynton Beach, Fla., was chairman of Morison Cogen, a certified public accounting firm in Bala Cynwyd.
Born in Philadelphia, Mr. Grossman was valedictorian for the Class of 1955 at Northeast High School and earned a bachelor's degree in accounting from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania in 1959.
Mr. Grossman worked for the Philadelphia accounting firm Dickerman & Brown from 1960 to 1976, his daughter Renee said, and was a partner in the Bala Cynwyd firm Silver & Co. and its successors.
In 1994, Mr. Grossman joined what is now Morison Cogan, a part of Morison International, an association of independent accounting and law firms.
A member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and of its Pennsylvania affiliate, he founded Community Accountants, a volunteer firm in East Falls, and was a director of Proscape Technologies Inc., a marketing firm in Horsham.
A treasurer of Akiba Hebrew Academy in the 1980s, he was a board member of the Philadelphia chapters of Boys Town Jerusalem and of American Associates, Ben-Gurion University of the Negev.
Besides his daughter, he is survived by his wife of 50 years, Eleanor; son, Craig; daughter, Hope Grossman-Canonico; and three grandchildren.
A funeral was July 5 in Boynton Beach.
