Edmond J. Sacks, 66, of Haverford, a pediatric cardiologist, died of cardiac arrest Monday at Bryn Mawr Hospital.
Edmond J. Sacks, 66, of Haverford, a pediatric cardiologist, died of cardiac arrest Monday at Bryn Mawr Hospital.
Born in Huntington, N.Y., he graduated from Huntington High School in 1961 and, after studying for three years at New York University, transferred to what is now Downstate Medical Center of the State University of New York, where he earned his medical degree in 1968.
He was an Air Force physician at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas, from 1970 to 1975, his son Josh said, and in 1976 he became chief of pediatric cardiology at Jefferson Medical College.
In 1988, Dr. Sacks left Jefferson and ran a private practice in Paoli until he retired in 2001.
Dr. Sacks wrote a medical text, Pediatric Cardiology for the House Officer, published by Williams & Wilkins in 1987. He authored several cardiology articles for medical journals.
A fellow of the American College of Cardiology, he was also a fellow of the American Association of Pediatrics.
Besides his son, Dr. Sacks is survived by his wife of 44 years, Ellen; a daughter, Gabriell; and four grandchildren.
