Tony Huesman, 51, an Ohio man who lived the longest of anyone on one transplanted heart, 31 years, has died.
In 2000, Mr. Huesman set a record for living the longest on one heart transplant. That year, a Tennessee man, who got his first new heart a year before Mr. Huesman received his, underwent a second transplant.
Mr. Huesman's wife, Carol Huesman, said he died Sunday night after a battle with cancer. He got a heart transplant 31 years ago at Stanford University.
Mr. Huesman, who worked at a sporting-goods store, later founded the Huesman Heart Foundation in Dayton and served as its president. The foundation seeks to reduce heart disease by educating children.
