Nao Takasugi, 87, a former California state assemblyman who was sent to an internment camp for Japanese Americans during World War II, died Thursday in Sacramento, Calif., of complications from a stroke.
Nao Takasugi, 87, a former California state assemblyman who was sent to an internment camp for Japanese Americans during World War II, died Thursday in Sacramento, Calif., of complications from a stroke.
Mr. Takasugi, a Republican from Oxnard, spent six years in the legislature before term limits forced him out in 1998. He had been mayor of Oxnard for 10 years before winning the Assembly seat.
Mr. Takasugi was a student at UCLA when he was sent to an internment camp. He later graduated from Temple University before returning to California. - AP
