Gallissas Theaterverlag, a company that represented Mr. Woolfson in Germany, said the musician died in London. Mr. Woolfson's Web site said he died early Wednesday.
He was born in Glasgow, Scotland. Together with Alan Parsons he founded the group, whose music became especially popular in the United States and Germany.
After the group disbanded in the 1990s, Mr. Woolfson continued to work as a music producer and composer of musicals. His musical Edgar Allan Poe is playing in Berlin. - AP
