Dale W. Kulp, 60, of Ambler, president of Marketing Systems Group in Fort Washington, died of pancreatic cancer Monday at his home.

In 1987, Mr. Kulp established Marketing Systems Group, a statistical-sampling research firm. Previously he worked for area marketing research companies for almost 20 years.

Mr. Kulp's staff issued a statement on the firm's Web site: "The greatest tribute to Dale's memory is the depth and breadth of talent and ability he recruited and cultivated at MSG."

He was passionate about his company, his son Matthew said, even when faced with adversity. In 2001, after a tropical storm dumped three feet of water on the firm's offices in the Fort Washington Office Park, the staff operated out of tents in the parking lot for two weeks. In 2009, a storm deposited two inches of water on the carpets. The damage was "relatively minor," he told an Inquirer reporter.

Mr. Kulp graduated from Souderton High School and earned a bachelor's degree from Drexel University.

He enjoyed classic cars, collecting antique furniture and paintings, and researching the history of the Souderton area, his son said.

Mr. Kulp is also survived by his mother, Geraldine; a sister; his former wife, Elaine; and his companion, Diane Sarsfield.

A memorial service will be at noon Monday at Zion Mennonite Church, 149 Cherry Lane, Souderton.
