Frederick G. "Rick" Farley Jr., 64, of Wallingford, a retired bank vice president, died of pneumonia Sunday at Prospect Park Health & Rehab.

Frederick G. "Rick" Farley Jr., 64, of Wallingford, a retired bank vice president, died of pneumonia Sunday at Prospect Park Health & Rehab.

Mr. Farley graduated from Interboro High School in Prospect Park and earned a bachelor's degree from Pennsylvania Military College, now Widener University. He was valedictorian of both his high school and college classes, his wife, Mary Krupinsky Farley, said.

In 1968, Mr. Farley joined the training program at Philadelphia National Bank, now Wachovia. He met his future wife at the bank's branch in Folsom, where both worked. They married in 1971.

He was vice president for wealth management at PNB in 1998 when a series of strokes forced him to retire.

Mr. Farley became a Catholic in 1978 and the next year joined St. John Chrysostom Church in Wallingford. Until becoming ill, he was a church lector and eucharistic minister, served on the pastoral council, and was a facilitator for a spiritual renewal program.

He enjoyed listening to classical music and opera, and was an avid reader and a Civil War history buff.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Farley is survived by a brother, William, and a niece.

A Funeral Mass will be said at 10 a.m. today at St. John Chrysostom Church, 617 S. Providence Rd., Wallingford. Friends may call from 8:30 a.m. Burial will be in SS. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Marple Township.
