Warren Moser, community leader

Warren E. Moser, 77, of Downingtown, former chairman of Brandywine Hospital in Coatesville and the Devereux Foundation in Villanova, died Tuesday at Brandywine of complications from pneumonia.

Warren E. Moser, 77, of Downingtown, former chairman of Brandywine Hospital in Coatesville and the Devereux Foundation in Villanova, died Tuesday at Brandywine of complications from pneumonia.

Mr. Moser was president and chief executive officer from 1979 to 1989 of Penguin Industries in Coatesville, then president of E.H.C. Hazardous Consulting in Lancaster from 1990 until he retired in 1997.

Born in Greene County, Pa., Mr. Moser graduated from Masontown Senior High School in Fayette County and, after serving in the Army Security Agency, earned a bachelor's degree in industrial management at Wayne State University.

In the 1980s, said Mr. Moser's son Bradford, his father, besides being board chairman of Devereux and chairman of Brandywine and its foundation, was chairman of Brandywine Health Services, chairman of the Coatesville Technology Center, and a board member of the Chester County Development Council.

In the 1990s, his son said, Mr. Moser was a board member of the Chester County Industrial Development Authority, the Chester County Housing Authority, and the Pennsylvania State Board of Osteopathic Medicine.

Besides his son, Mr. Moser is survived by his wife of 43 years, Sandra; sons Keith and Gregory; and five grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. tomorrow at the James J. Terry Funeral Home, 736 E. Lancaster Ave., Downingtown, and from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday before a funeral service there.

Burial, in Fayette County, Pa., is to be private.
