Dorothy "Dotti" Martin, 67, of Telford, a Girl Scout leader and administrator, died of cancer Wednesday at her home.

Ms. Martin retired in 2007 as volunteer services coordinator for the Girl Scouts of Eastern Pennsylvania. Her professional Girl Scout career lasted 30 years, said longtime friend Flos Horsfield. She was leader of senior Girl Scout Troop 553 in Montgomery County for many years. Girls credited her mentoring for their success as adults, Horsfield said. Ms. Martin was also a site director at the Girl Scouts' Camp Laughing Waters in Gilbertsville.

Ms. Martin received several scouting awards, including the Thanks Badge II from the Girl Scouts, USA; the William Penn Award from the Girl Scouts of Philadelphia; and the Ellen Mary Cassatt Award from the Girl Scouts of Southeastern Pennsylvania.

Ms. Martin was a Girl Scout growing up in Germantown and Hatfield. After graduating from North Penn High School, she worked in lamp and pretzel factories and as a florist before going to work at the Girl Scouts headquarters in Philadelphia. She later worked in the organization's office in Miquon and while there attended Montgomery County Community College.

An avid traveler, Ms. Martin's favorite trip was a cruise to Alaska in June, Horsfield said.

Ms. Martin is survived by sisters Helen Kettyle and Kathy Friedman; two nieces; and three nephews.

A memorial service will be at 11:30 a.m. today at Trinity Lutheran Church, 1000 W. Main St., Lansdale. Friends may call from 10 a.m.
