D. Craig Althouse, 70, of Ardmore, a chiropractor in Ardmore since 1964, died of colon cancer Wednesday, May 5, at home.

D. Craig Althouse, 70, of Ardmore, a chiropractor in Ardmore since 1964, died of colon cancer Wednesday, May 5, at home.

Born in Bryn Mawr, he graduated from Lower Merion High School in 1957, attended Villanova University and Long Island University and earned his degree at the Chiropractic Institute of New York in 1963. He served in the U.S. Army Reserve.

His wife of 42 years, Ruth, said that at Ardmore United Methodist Church, "he was in various leadership capacities for over a quarter-century, including president of the administrative council, board of trustees, chairperson of pastor-parish relations, and as a lay leader."

A board member of the Pennsylvania Chiropractic Society and of the Main Line YMCA, in the 1960s Dr. Althouse was president of the Optimist Club of Ardmore.

Inn addition to his wife, Dr. Althouse is survived by son D. Craig Jr.; daughter Kimberly Timmons; a brother; and four grandchildren.

A memorial will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 16, at Ardmore United Methodist Church, 200 Argyle Rd., Ardmore.
