Stanley A. Bodalski, 85, of Havertown, a retired professor of business, died of pancreatic cancer Friday, June 25, at home.

Stanley A. Bodalski, 85, of Havertown, a retired professor of business, died of pancreatic cancer Friday, June 25, at home.

Mr. Bodalski was on the faculty at what is now St. Joseph's University for 38 years before retiring in the late 1980s. He was popular with his students for his sense of humor, his family said.

A native of South Philadelphia, Mr. Bodalski graduated from St. Joseph's Preparatory School, where he played varsity football, and attended St. Joseph's College.

During World War II, he served in the Army as a machine gunner and fought in central Europe.

After his discharge, he earned a bachelor's degree from St. Joseph's and a master's degree from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.

Mr. Bodalski married Madeline Fay Bodalski in 1949. While helping raise a family, he cofounded the Hilltop Baseball Little League in Havertown and umpired and coached teams there.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughters Mary Ann Boyle, Jean Mettler, Susan, and Ann; sons Gerard, Joseph, and John; a sister; 16 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, June 29, and from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 30, at Donohue Funeral Home, 8401 West Chester Pike, Upper Darby. A Funeral Mass will be said at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 30, at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, 109 N. Manoa Rd., Havertown, where Mr. Bodalski attended daily Mass and was an usher and lector. Burial will be in SS. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Marple Township.
