George H. Fisher Jr., 80, a surveyor for the City of Philadelphia for 55 years, died of complications of surgery Tuesday, Dec. 7, at Roxborough Memorial Hospital.

A lifelong resident of Roxborough, Mr. Fisher graduated from Roxborough High School and then joined the city's survey department. He loved his work, his family said. Mr. Fisher retired from the city's Ninth Survey District in 2004.

While their children were growing up, Mr. Fisher coached in youth football and Little League programs in Roxborough. He often ran into former players, who were always happy to see him, his family said.

He enjoyed gardening, crossword puzzles, game shows, and flea markets.

Mr. Fisher's first wife died in 1983. In 1992, he married Cheryl Abey.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughter Leslie; sons Steven and Gregory; three sisters; a brother; and eight grandchildren.
