Christopher J. Gigliotti, 80, of Rydal, a developer and residential builder, died at home Monday, Dec. 27, of pancreatic cancer.

Christopher J. Gigliotti, 80, of Rydal, a developer and residential builder, died at home Monday, Dec. 27, of pancreatic cancer.

Mr. Gigliotti was chairman of the Gigliotti Group in Newtown, which is operated by his sons Ronald and John. The Gigliottis have been in the construction business for more than 50 years and built more than 10,000 homes, most in Bucks County.

In 1989, the firm won an award from the Home Builders Association of Bucks-Montgomery County for model homes in Chalfont.

Mr. Gigliotti graduated from Frankford High School and attended Millersville University. In 1952, he began his career by joining his father's construction firm.

He believed in giving back to the community, his daughter, Carol, said. He was former chairman of the board of St. Mary Medical Center in Langhorne and was chairman of the St. Mary Hospital Authority. He also served on the board of Franciscan Health System in Aston and was president of One Watermark, a condo association in West Palm Beach, Fla., where he and his wife, Carole Furst Gigliotti, wintered.

Mr. Gigliotti enjoyed golfing and deep-sea fishing with his sons. He was a member of the Squires Country Club in Ambler and the High Ridge Country Club in Palm Beach.

In addition to his wife of 28 years, sons, and daughter, he is survived by a son, Chris; a sister; and eight grandchildren. Mr. Gigliotti's first wife, Marian Shreiner Gigliotti, died in 1981.

A viewing will be at 6 p.m. followed by Words of Remembrance at 8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 29, at St. Andrew Roman Catholic Church, 81 Swamp Rd., Newtown. A Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 30, at the Cathedral Basilica of SS. Peter and Paul, 1723 Race St., Philadelphia. Friends may call at 9 a.m.
