Bruce Gordon, 94, who played a mobster on the television series The Untouchables from 1959 to 1963, died Jan. 20 at his home in Santa Fe, N.M.

Before taking on his most famous role as mobster Frank Nitti in The Untouchables, Mr. Gordon played police officers, detectives, prosecutors, and cowboys on numerous television shows. He appeared in Gunsmoke, Maverick, Perry Mason, and Bonanza.

Retired actor Abel Fernandez of Whittier, Calif., worked with Mr. Gordon on The Untouchables and said he was a fantastic actor.

"Just fun to watch work, and fun to work with, because he gave so much," Fernandez said.

Although Mr. Gordon was typecast as a tough guy, he made a joke out of it in comedies such as Get Smart, Fernandez said.

Mr. Gordon, born in Fitchburg, Mass., was a member of the original Broadway cast of Arsenic and Old Lace in 1941.

His professional work slowed down during the 1970s, but he had appearances in various television series, including Adam-12, The Doris Day Show, and Simon & Simon. - AP
