Ion Hobana, 80, a Romanian science-fiction writer whose works were translated abroad, died Tuesday at a Bucharest hospital.
Some of Mr. Hobana's stories were included in international anthologies, such as The Penguin World Omnibus of Science Fiction and Twenty Houses of the Zodiac. His last book, a history of French science fiction before 1900, was published in November.
Two volumes on UFOs, cowritten by Julian Weverbergh, were published in the Netherlands in 1970s. The books were translated into English, French, and Spanish.
