Augustus J. Pedicone, 76, of Lansdale, a retired executive for Household Finance Corp. and a community activist, died Tuesday, May 31, of heart failure at home.

For more than 35 years, Mr. Pedicone worked for Household Finance, starting as a collector in Norristown. He later held management positions in Philadelphia, Maryland, and New York and was a vice president and district general manager when he retired in 1992.

He and his wife, Jane O'Rourke Pedicone, who met at Household Finance in Philadelphia, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary May 6.

For the last 48 years, Mr. Pedicone and his wife lived in Lansdale, where he served on the Borough Council from 1973 to 1976. He also served on the board of directors of St. Mary Manor in Lansdale and was active in the antiabortion movement with his wife.

Even after his children were grown, he remained active with the Lansdale Catholic High School Friends and Alumni Club, and for more than 30 years, including this past season, he was a member of the Lansdale Catholic football chain crew.

An avid Philadelphia sports fan and golfer, Mr. Pedicone was a member of Sandy Run Country Club for 24 years and served on the club's board from 2003 to 2006. His accomplishment of shooting two holes-in-one at Sandy Run 1997 earned him the headline "Two Aces in One Week" in Philadelphia Golfer magazine. A few years before, he had shot a hole-in-one at Lebanon Valley Golf Club.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Pedicone is survived by daughters Jane Wojdula, Kathleen Pinzka, and Sharon Smart; sons John and Thomas; a sister; and 13 grandchildren.
