Maureen Peters Gallen, 50, of Media, a business owner, died of heart disease Tuesday, May 31, at home.

Maureen Peters Gallen, 50, of Media, a business owner, died of heart disease Tuesday, May 31, at home.

Mrs. Gallen owned and operated Hollywood Tans salons in King of Prussia, Drexel Hill, and Center City.

She opened the King of Prussia salon in the mid-1990s and later expanded to the other locations.

Previously, she owned and operated West Coast Video stores in Aston and Westtown.

She had a positive outlook on life and enjoyed being an entrepreneur, her husband, William F. Gallen, said.

Mrs. Gallen grew up in Philadelphia and Swarthmore. After graduating from Ridley High School in 1979, she was a secretary in Center City and then was a secretary for Life Guidance Services in Broomall for several years before becoming a business owner.

She and her husband married in 1983. He was the best friend of her brother Donald.

Mrs. Gallen loved listening to a variety of music and going to concerts.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Courtney; a son, Connor; parents Patricia and Donald Peters; and two brothers.

Friends may call from 9 to 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, June 7, at D'Anjolell Memorial Home, 2811 West Chester Pike, Broomall. A Funeral Mass will be said at 11 a.m. at St. Mary Magdalen Church, 2400 N. Providence Rd., Media.
