David L. Wix | Business owner, 67

David L. "Poppio" Wix, 67, of Drexel Hill, a business owner, died of cancer, Saturday, June 4, at Delaware County Memorial Hospital.

David L. "Poppio" Wix, 67, of Drexel Hill, a business owner, died of cancer, Saturday, June 4, at Delaware County Memorial Hospital.

Since 2001, Mr. Wix had owned and operated LFS Coating Services in Clifton Heights. The firm provides coatings to protect and enhance metal materials for industrial and residential use.

Mr. Wix graduated from Strath Haven High School.

During the Vietnam War, he served in the Army in Germany.

After his discharge, Mr. Wix worked for coating companies and, at night, attended Pennsylvania State University at the Brandywine campus in Media. He later owned Tech Coatings in Clifton Heights and worked for a coating company in Florida when he lived in Palm Beach Gardens from 1996 to 2001.

He and his wife, Diane, married in 1992. Each had two children from former marriages and together they raised her twin nieces, Lisa and Laura Flatt.

Mr. Wix enjoyed riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle and spending time with friends and family.

In addition to his wife and nieces, he is survived by daughters Wendy Zebley and Stephanie Younkers; stepchildren George and Maureen Cook; a brother; four grandchildren; and his former wife, Lorraine Quinlan.

The funeral will be at noon, Saturday, June 11, at the Spencer T. Videon Funeral Home, 400 Shadeland Ave., Drexel Hill. Friends may call from 10 a.m.
