Michael F. Beausang Jr., 75, of Devon, who practiced law in King of Prussia for 40 years, died Monday, June 20, of complications of a ruptured appendix at the nursing center at Dunwoody in Newtown Square.

Since 1971, Mr. Beausang had a been a member of the law firm of Butera, Beausang, Cohen & Brennan. He specialized in corporate, insurance, banking, and tax law, and served on the boards of several insurance companies and banks. He published numerous articles in professional publications including Tax Management Portfolios and for the Bureau of National Affairs, a publisher of news on law and other subjects.

An avid sailor and deep-sea fisherman, Mr. Beausang had earned a master's license from the Coast Guard. He enjoyed nothing more than a trip to the Baltimore Canyon aboard his boat, Pelican, a daughter, Betsy Toscano, said.

Mr. Beausang grew up in Penn Wynne. He graduated from Lower Merion High School and earned a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Pennsylvania.

He then joined the Navy. In 1958, during a crisis in Lebanon, he was aboard the landing ship Spiegel Grove in operations to secure the port of Beirut.

After his discharge, Mr. Beausang worked in Washington while earning a law degree from Georgetown University.

He then was a lawyer for firms in Philadelphia and commuted to New York City to earn a master's degree in taxation from New York University Law School.

Mr. Beausang married Jane Graves in 1958. The couple raised three children in Wayne before divorcing. In 1986, he married Deborah Deavers.

In addition to his wife and daughter, Mr. Beausang is survived by a son, Michael III; a daughter, Suzanne Leiser; a stepson, Erik Seeney; 10 grandchildren; and his former wife, Jane Brink.

A memorial service is scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday, June 25, at Christ Episcopal Church, 536 Conestoga Rd., Villanova. Friends may call from 10. Mr. Beausang served on the vestry and was accounting warden at the church for many years.
