Barbara Solit Bodenheimer, 64, an executive with Friends of Rittenhouse Square, died of cancer Wednesday, Aug. 10, at her home in Philadelphia.
Barbara Solit Bodenheimer, 64, an executive with Friends of Rittenhouse Square, died of cancer Wednesday, Aug. 10, at her home in Philadelphia.
Until 2010, her daughter Alexis said in an interview Friday, Mrs. Bodenheimer was vice president of finance for the volunteer agency. She held that post for 16 years.
Born in Philadelphia, Mrs. Bodenheimer graduated from Cheltenham High School in 1965 and earned a bachelor's degree in psychology from Pennsylvania State University in 1969.
In 1972, she and her husband, James, established Egotrips, an entertainment transportation company, for which she was until recently the chief financial officer.
The firm's website states that it offers "trucking, tour buses, and airplane charters for the entertainment touring industry."
On her 2002 release, Silver Lining, the musician Bonnie Raitt included a thank-you to Jim Bodenheimer and his firm. On the band Aerosmith's 2001 release, Just Push Play, the Bodenheimer firm was similarly thanked.
Besides her husband and her daughter, Mrs. Bodenheimer is survived by a son, Jonathan; another daughter, Emily DeBevoise; a brother; a sister; and a granddaughter.
A funeral service was set for 12:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 15, at Congregation Rodeph Shalom, 615 N. Broad St., followed by a private burial.
