The Temple football family lost a member last week. Frank Massino, 69, a former defensive lineman and assistant coach, died at his Lafayette Hill home on Tuesday.

Frank Massino, 69, a former defensive lineman and assistant coach, died at his Lafayette Hill home on Tuesday.
Mr. Massino was a member of the Owls' varsity team from 1961 to 1963. As a senior, he was named team captain and honored as the team's best lineman that season.
In 1964, when his playing career was over, Mr. Massino served as an assistant coach on the freshman football team.
He came back to Temple to serve as the head coach of the Owls freshman team from 1969 to 1972, before becoming the varsity team's assistant linebackers coach from 1973 to 1977. Mr. Massino had another assistant coaching stint at Temple in 1979.
A Funeral Mass will be said at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Philip Neri Church, 437 Ridge Pike, Lafayette Hill. A viewing will be held Sunday from 6:30 to 9 p.m. and Monday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the Emil J. Ciavarelli Family Funeral Home, 516 Fayette St., Conshohocken. Interment will be private.
