Daria Alexandra Pushkar Shust, 79, of Huntingdon Valley, a retired teacher, died Monday, Feb. 20, at Abington Memorial Hospital.

Daria Alexandra Pushkar Shust, 79, of Huntingdon Valley, a retired teacher, died Monday, Feb. 20, at Abington Memorial Hospital.
For 15 years, Mrs. Shust taught Spanish at St. Basil Academy, a private girls' high school in Jenkintown. She retired in 1999.
Previously, she taught at the former Raven Hill Academy in East Falls and at the Ukrainian Catholic Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception School in Philadelphia.
In 1949, Mrs. Shust emigrated with her parents from Ukraine, then part of the Soviet Union. She graduated from John W. Hallahan Catholic Girls High School in 1952; earned a bachelor's degree from Chestnut Hill College in 1974; and earned a master's degree in Spanish literature and education from La Salle University in 1989.
Since 1956, she had been married to Ihor Shust, a native of Ukraine and a retired banker.
Mrs. Shust was active in the Ukrainian American community. She was an accomplished pianist with a predilection for Chopin.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by daughters Christine Fylypovych and Tanya Temnycky; a son, Mark; a sister; a brother; and six grandchildren.
Friends may call from 6 p.m. with a requiem service at 7 Thursday, Feb. 23, at Fletcher-Nasevich Funeral Home, 9529 Bustleton Ave. A funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 24, at Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Ukrainian Catholic Church, 1206 Valley Rd., Melrose Park.
