Frank William Bubb 3d, 65, a corporate lawyer who held executive positions with Scott Paper Co. in Philadelphia and the Sports Authority chain, died of Alzheimer's disease Thursday, Nov. 8, in Boca Raton, Fla.

Mr. Bubb worked for Scott from 1975 to 1996. He rose to vice president and chief financial counsel.

He then worked for Sports Authority as senior vice president and general counsel, retiring in 2003.

Mr. Bubb graduated from Washington University in St. Louis in 1969 with a bachelor's degree in economics.

He then earned a law degree at the University of Pennsylvania in 1972. In 1971, he married Diana Paulonis. The couple were longtime residents of Swarthmore.

Mr. Bubb was a longtime Libertarian activist. At Washington University, he chaired the Missouri chapter of Young Americans for Freedom.

Active in the Objectivist movement, Mr. Bubb ran as the Libertarian candidate for Pennsylvania state treasurer in 1980.

Mr. Bubb also wrote many news and opinion articles distributed by the Cato Institute. His articles were published in The Inquirer, the Orange County Register, and other newspapers.

His hobbies included traveling, tennis, scuba diving and mountain hiking.

Mr. Bubb is survived by his wife; sons Daniel and David; three brothers; and a sister.

A memorial celebration will at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 5, at the Springhaven Club, 600 S. Providence Rd., Wallingford.
