Stacey L. Schwartz, 61, of Lafayette Hill, a lawyer who handled commercial and personal-injury litigation, died Wednesday, Sept. 18, at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital of complications from a heart attack.

Mr. Schwartz was associated with the law firm Peruto, Ryan & Vitullo from 1977 to 1984, before forming a firm in 1986 with Philip L. Blackman, a friend from junior high and high school.

Until his death, Mr. Schwartz was a senior partner in Schwartz & Blackman, with offices in Philadelphia and Cherry Hill.

"In 27 years, we never had a fight," Blackman said. "We were never angry with each other. We were a team; we handled all the cases together."

Mr. Schwartz's specialty was cases involving personal injury, business disputes, real estate litigation, and medical malpractice. He looked into allegations of defective products and company liability after work-site accidents.

But he was most drawn to cases in which motorcyclists were injured or killed. That was because he was an avid motorcyclist himself, sometimes with a sidecar.

Blackman said Mr. Schwartz loved his work and let clients know he cared about them by giving out his cellphone number. He was available around the clock.

"He was very outgoing," Blackman said. "He was just a great guy. It's a real tragedy."

Born in Philadelphia, Mr. Schwartz graduated from Northeast High School and Temple University with a bachelor's degree in history. He earned his law degree from Temple Law School in 1976.

In younger days, he was a disc jockey, spinning records at dance clubs. He collected Harley-Davidson motorcycles and rode them on adventures with his family. He enjoyed the Jersey Shore.

Surviving are his wife of 40 years, the former Barbara Jo "B.J." Netter; a son, Wesley J.; a daughter, Eve J.; and a sister.

Services are past. Donations may be made to Congregation Rodeph Shalom's music fund, 615 N. Broad St., Philadelphia 19123, or Rubye's Kids, 453 Johnson St., Jenkintown, Pa. 19046.
