Andrew L. Walters Sr., 72, a mailer for the Philadelphia Bulletin until it closed in 1982, then for The Inquirer and the Courier-Post, died Friday, Nov. 1, of cancer at his home in Maple Shade.

Andrew L. Walters Sr., 72, a mailer for the Philadelphia Bulletin until it closed in 1982, then for The Inquirer and the Courier-Post, died Friday, Nov. 1, of cancer at his home in Maple Shade.
Mailers oversee machines that gather together sections of newspapers and help move resulting bundles to waiting trucks.
Born in Moorestown, Mr. Walters graduated from Moorestown High School, where he was a champion diver for the school swim team, his wife, Linda, said.
He was a gold card member of the Maple Shade 25 Club, a social organization that offers its banquet hall for such events as wedding receptions.
Mr. Walters' wife said his gold card indicated that he was a member of long standing.
He retired from the Courier-Post in 1996.
Besides his wife, Mr. Walters is survived by a son, Andrew L. Jr.; daughters Margaret Parry and Andrea Wagner; a stepson, Joseph Driscoll; stepdaughters Ann Vick, Mary Charnitsky, and Teresa Costa; five grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two brothers; a sister; and his former wife, Helen Walters.
Visitations were set from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 6, and from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 7, at the Mark C. Tilghman Funeral Home, 38 N. Forklanding Rd., Maple Shade, before a funeral service there at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 7. Interment is to be private.
Donations may be made to a veterans' organization of the donor's choice.
