J. Kenneth "Ken" Jones, 82, formerly of Lansdale, an accountant, died Tuesday, Dec. 17, of pneumonia at Lansdale Hospital-Abington Health.

Born in Doylestown, he moved with his family to Lancaster County, and graduated from Manheim Township High School in Neffsville in 1949.

Mr. Jones served in the Navy for four years in Florida. He attended Pennsylvania State University under the GI Bill and graduated in 1959.

He was a certified public accountant for 10 years at Ernst & Ernst, then one of the nation's biggest accounting firms. His offices were in Philadelphia and Reading.

Mr. Jones joined Hatfield Quality Meats in 1968 as controller. He was assistant treasurer, executive vice president, and a member of the board of directors before retiring in 2006. At his retirement, Hatfield Quality Meats, now Clemens Family Corp., established an employee outstanding-service award in his honor.

Mr. Jones served on numerous boards of directors, including the North Penn YMCA, Advanced Living Management & Development Inc., North Penn Community Health Foundation, Rotary, Clemens Markets, and North Penn Hospital.

He was dedicated to Trinity Lutheran Church of Lansdale, and served on its church council and ushers' association. He and his wife served as honorary cochairs of Trinity's capital campaign.

Mr. Jones married the former Nancy Nace Benner in 1958. They in Lansdale; Sinking Spring, Berks County; and Hatfield Township before retiring to Towamencin Township several years ago.

They enjoyed traveling, attending Penn State football games, and spending time with their family.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are a son, Phillip; a daughter, Sharon; two grandchildren; and three sisters.

Friends may call after 9:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 23, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 1000 W. Main St., Lansdale. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Immanuel Leidy's Church Cemetery, Souderton.
