Carol Ann Susi | 'Big Bang' actress, 62

Carol Ann Susi, 62, the actress best known for voicing the unseen Mrs. Wolowitz on The Big Bang Theory , died Tuesday in Los Angeles after a brief battle with cancer.

Carol Ann Susi, 62, the actress best known for voicing the unseen Mrs. Wolowitz on The Big Bang Theory, died Tuesday in Los Angeles after a brief battle with cancer.

The veteran character actress had made numerous guest appearances on TV shows since the 1970s.

On The Big Bang Theory, Ms. Susi wasn't on camera as the overbearing mother of Simon Helberg's Howard Wolowitz, but her character's loud, Brooklyn-accented voice was instantly recognizable. Ms. Susi also appeared on TV shows including Cheers, Mad About You, and Seinfeld.
