Logan V. DeAngelis, 17, of Green Bank, in Washington Township, Burlington County, died of brain cancer Wednesday, May 20, at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia.

He was diagnosed with glioblastoma in August 2013, said his father, Vincent.

But he had continued going to his junior-year classes, at Cedar Creek High School in Egg Harbor City, part time until Christmas, his father said.

Logan was a goalie and forward on the high school soccer team in his freshman year and, before that, for a team in a Mullica Township recreational league.

He was both an infielder and outfielder for Little League baseball teams in Egg Harbor City and Mullica Township, his father said.

In seventh and eighth grades, he was a two-way guard for the Egg Harbor City Crusaders football team and a wrestler and basketball guard in a Mullica Township recreational league.

"He loved hunting more than life," his father said. "If he wasn't hunting, he was fishing."

Martino Cartier, a family friend from Sewell, said, "Logan was extraordinary. Funny. Loving."

Even while undergoing treatment at Children's Hospital, Cartier said, "he would get out of bed and play" with younger children with similar illnesses.

"He was selfless," Cartier said.

Besides his father, Logan is survived by his mother, Tina; sister, Ashleigh; paternal grandparents, Zach DeAngelis and Joyce Marshall; step-grandmother, Linda DeAngelis; and maternal grandmother, Anne King.

Viewings were scheduled from 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, May 26, and from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 27, both at the Marinella Funeral Home, 102 N. Third St., Hammonton, before an 11 a.m. Funeral Mass at St. Joseph Church, Third and French Streets, Hammonton, with burial in Greenmount Cemetery there.

Donations to help pay the family's medical bills may be sent to the Logan DeAngelis Fund, Susquehanna Bank, 240 S. White Horse Pike, Hammonton, N.J. 08037.

Condolences may be offered to the family at www.marinellafuneralhome.com.
