Jonathan A. Minder, 74, of Southampton, a former computer systems manager, died of respiratory failure on Sept. 7, at Virtua Voorhees Hospital.
Until earlier this year, he had been a member since 2009 of the board of trustees at the Southampton retirement community Leisuretowne and president of that board since 2014.
Born in Philadelphia, Mr. Minder graduated from Gloucester Catholic High School in 1959. From 1961 to 1981, he was an Air Force radar and computer worker. He was discharged as a master sergeant.
"He was a radar technician for 15 years," his wife, Francine, said in a phone interview, "and, for the last five, a computer systems analyst."
He served at bases in Mississippi, New Jersey, Newfoundland, West Germany, the District of Columbia, Alaska, and Alabama.
He earned, among others, such commendations as a small-arms expert marksmanship ribbon and an NCO Academy graduate ribbon.
And while in uniform, he earned a bachelor's in business at Troy (Ala.) University in 1976.
In 1987, Mr. Minder began his second career, working as a computer systems manager for Computer Sciences Corp. for a time in its Mount Laurel office, as well as in Atlantic City. He retired in 2007.
He was a member of the Community Associations Institute and, since 1981, a member of the Air Force Association.
John Welling, chief of emergency services for a South Jersey pharmaceutical firm, had known Mr. Minder through family gatherings.
Pointing to Mr. Minder's work with the Leisuretowne trustees, Welling said his work in retirement was "to give back to the community."
Besides his wife, Francine, Mr. Minder is survived by sons Kevin and Brian, daughter Jacqueline Mulligan, two brothers, a sister and five grandchildren.
A visitation was set from 9 to 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 16, at the Church of the Holy Eucharist, 520 Medford Lakes Rd., Tabernacle, before an 11 a.m. Funeral Mass there, with interment in Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Memorial Cemetery in Wrightstown.
