Jane Kepner Jackson, 92, of Media, a retired physical-education teacher who operated a summer hockey camp, died May 23 at Riddle Memorial Hospital in Media.

Jane Kepner Jackson, 92, of Media, a retired physical-education teacher who operated a summer hockey camp, died May 23 at Riddle Memorial Hospital in Media.

Mrs. Jackson lived in Drexel Hill until moving to Riddle Village retirement community in Media in 2000.

She graduated from Upper Darby High School and earned a bachelor's degree from Beaver College, now Arcadia University, and was active in organizing her high-school and college class reunions.

In 1939, she married Robert Jackson. While raising their daughters, she was a substitute teacher, refereed girls' field hockey and basketball at local high schools, and was an official for high-school swim meets. She and her husband helped found Suburban Swim Club in Newtown Square in the 1960s. After her children were grown, she taught in elementary schools in the Upper Darby School District for 10 years until retiring in 1973.

For 25 years, she and her sister-in-law, Jackie Westervelt, ran Towers Hockey Day Camp in Newtown Square until the 1970s.

Mrs. Jackson enjoyed playing tennis at Idle Hour Tennis Club in Drexel Hill and was active with several bridge clubs and gardening clubs.

Her first husband, Robert Jackson, died in 1999. In 2000, she married Robert Ritchie. He died in 2002.

She is survived by daughters Nancy Jackson and Virginia Schreckengaust; two grandsons; and five great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Riddle Village Auditorium, 1048 W. Baltimore Pike, Media.
