Author James Michener replaced the initials BC with BCE, or "Before the Christian Era" in his 1965 book "The Source."

You could say this is "left-wing political correctness" because it was used to avoid offending Jews, or you could say it's "right-wing political correctness" because it placates Zionists. Smerconish may have been offended because it confuses his sense of "religious correctness."
