Letters | Checking the Parking Authority

LIKE MANY Philadelphians, I'm outraged and dismayed by the Patronage . . . I mean the Parking Authority's decision to stiff our city's schoolchildren out of the funding promised in return for the Republican takeover a few years back. It's clear to me from John Perzel's recent statements that this was a promise that was never meant to be kept, and the skyrocketing number of high-wage, low-responsibility jobs at the PPA created in the wake of the takeover proves the point.

Since the PPA isn't turning over the funding they promised our kids, I suggest that we Philadelphians take matters into our own hands. Our kids need the money, not the vultures at the Patronage Authority, so when you mail in your parking ticket, send a message and make the check out to the School District of Philadelphia instead.
