Letters | The tragedy of Benazir Bhutto
WE WERE all shocked and saddened to learn of the assassination of Pakistani former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto. While looking at the latest news breaking on TV and the Internet, I was exposed to many bothersome images, not the least of which was George W. Bush crying crocodile tears for the fallen prime minister from his vacation ranch.

Has anyone ever bothered to ask why, after these years, President Bush has been unable to capture bin Laden? All anybody would have to do is look into the past dealings of the Bush family and see that there has been more than one piece of business completed with members of the bin Laden clan.
Bhutto said that if her party were to be re-elected, she might possibly ask U.S. troops to leave. This was one strike Bush had against her. She also said that, if elected, she was going to be much more forceful in going after bin Laden than her predecessor. That must have been the other strike.
The facts seem to point to this: Regardless of what he said that day, Bush is not unhappy to see her go.

I seriously doubt there will be any international investigation, at least a legitimate one, into the assassination of Benazir Bhutto, the "people's choice" in Pakistan.
What a relief for the Bush administration that Musharraf, our puppet, remains in power.
What a plus for the Taliban and Osama "Trash bin" Laden, who she vowed to rid her country of. What a loss for the chance of freedom for Pakistan. Everyone is back to the same old, same old.
She was a courageous woman. I wish we had one politician with the conviction and loyalty to our country that she showed to hers. Look at our candidates, for instance - everyone either an actor or liar or pawn for the lobbyists, just like we have now.
