can do a story on how many criminals are let out of jail only to commit crimes, run from the police and even kill them.

Maybe instead of focusing on the police beating career criminals and losing their jobs, you could look at how many of these criminals are given more chances while these police officers who have to deal with thugs get fired.

Maybe a story on how much the thugs' families know about their crimes but don't speak up about that?
