Letters: Race and coaching

RE "Black coaches mull suit over few hirings,"

Daily News,

Dec.19: What I cannot understand is why some races feel they deserve a job based on the color of their skin. Someone should get a job based on their ability to do that particular job, in this case college football coaching.

If I am hiring someone for a certain position, I don't care what their skin color is; I want the person who is best suited for the position. If I am the athletic director at a university, and my job stability depends on how well the person whom I hire does his job, I want the most experienced and knowledgable person I can get. I want someone with a great coaching track record. I do not want to have to hire someone under pressure from certain minority civil rights groups just because of the color of their skin.

No matter what job someone is applying for, it should always be the best one for the job. Period!
