Letters: Flyers are hot - not Sixers
WHILE I appreciate the seven pages devoted to the Flyers playoff, Larry Brown and his possible return to Philly gets the back cover? The Sixers have been pathetic, and their attendance proves it. Flyers fans have filled the Wachovia Center for every game, even when the Flyers were slumping. Larry Brown isn't a coach here and the Flyers are in the playoffs! I think they deserve a cover (even the back one).

They're not handouts
Letter-writer Harriet Brown asked what we mean when we say we want our country back. Well, just take a look at all the foreigners and illegals in our country. Never has my country had 10 percent unemployment until our great government let all these foreigners freeload.
And American senior citizens on Social Security earned anything they receive. Veterans Administration benefits? They fought for our country and deserve everything. Foreigners never fought for America. Seniors deserve Medicare and more.
So, Harriet, if you're so unhappy, leave my country and go to another one. But remember, you will get no job, no food stamps, no free money, no health insurance, your children no free lunches at school. Only the U.S. is dumb enough to do that.

Harriet Brown talks about people who receive Social Security, VA benefits, Medicare and Medicaid as government-handout recipients. She is lost!
The people who receive Social Security are known as working people who punched a time card for many, many years. Believe it or not, they worked for a their Social Security.
As for our VA-benefit recipients, maybe you didn't study very hard while growing up, but these people put their lives on the line for their country and the people living in it. You may add your name to the list if you choose to do so. It's not a handout, Ms. Brown, they earned it.
