Letters: A tale of life with autism

MY HEART goes out to letter-writer Charlene Wilsey, the woman with an autistic child. I have a beautiful 8-year-old grandson who is autistic.

MY HEART goes out to letter-writer Charlene Wilsey, the woman with an autistic child.

I have a beautiful 8-year-old grandson who is autistic.

And you're right. There isn't enough education on autism.

My daughter went to a march in Washington to try to make a difference in the lives of so many children with this growing affliction. It hurts me to see other children who can talk and do other things my grandson can't.

There is still ignorance about autism. Sometimes when I have my grandson at the store or restaurant, he shouts or he might jump up and down, and the reaction from some people is unreal.

One gentleman said he doesn't belong around other children, and should be on a leash. A woman said she couldn't eat her dinner in peace.

Well, God has given me a beautiful grandson with more love in his heart than people who are not autistic. We parents and grandparents should thank God every day that we have our children in our lives. They are truly God's gift to us.

A few years ago, I testified about the lack of services to families with autistic children. I was told someone would call me to help. No one did.

To the people out there who don't understand my grandson and other children of autism, look inside your heart before you judge them.

That sexy SEC

Did the SEC employees viewing pornography during working hours on their computers really do anything wrong?

Their SEC jobs are to ensure that people shouldn't be bleeping others and others shouldn't be getting bleeped.

Pornography is people bleeping others and others getting bleeped.

So weren't they really just performing a company-sponsored self-study program of continuing education?
